Catechism

               Catechism aims at the faith formation of children.  From Ist standard to 10th Standard it is compulsory for all children.   We follow the Syllabus given by the Syro Malabar Catechetical Centre. Besides the regular catechism classes on Sundays we have also special program for the catechism children during the summer vacation.  Some of the useful teachings for the catechism are given below:  

REGULAR PRAYERS

Class I

1. SIGN OF THE CROSS (SHORT)

In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Turn then most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy towards us; and after this our exile, show unto us the blesses fruit of your womb, Jesus. O Clement, O Loving, O Sweet Virgin Mary.

Remember, O most Gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help and sought your intercession was left unaided. Therefore I beseech the blessed Mary ever Virgin, blessed Michael the Archangel,  blessed John the Baptist, the holy apostles Peter, Paul, Thomas, and all the saints and to you father, to pray to the Lord, our God for me, Amen.

13. ACT OF CONTRITION

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven, and the pains of hell, but most of all because I offended you my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life, Amen.

 

Class VI

14. THE CHIEF COMMANDMENTS OF THE CHURCH

1.   To participate in  the whole Mass of Sunday and days of obligation and to abstain from forbidden labour on those days.

2.   To confess our sins at least once a year and to receive Holy Communion at Paschal time.

3.   To fast and abstain on the days appointed.

4.   Not to celebrate marriage in forbidden periods and with forbidden people.

5.   To contribute to the support of the Church and the pastors according to the norms of the diocese.

 

15. THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

16. THE APOSTLE’S CREED

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty/ Creator of all things visible and invisible/ and in one Lord Jesus Christ/ the only begotten Son of God/ the first born of all creatures/ born of the Father before all ages/ and not made/ true God from true God/ consubstantial with the Father/ through him the worlds were formed and all things were created.  For the sake of us men/ and for our salvation he came down from heaven/ and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit/ and was conceived and born of the Virgin Mary/ and became man.  He suffered and was crucified in the days of Pontius Pilate/ died and was buried/ and on the third day he rose again/ as it is written.
